All puppies are priced based of off Choice Pick Selection, on a first-come, first-serve basis. Some litters will have exclusive pricing, and that will be announced as the breeding is announced.

Process
Puppy reservations will be taken in the order received, and confirmed.
To confirm a reservation, a consultation with a Conquistador Program Manager must be completed, a contract signed, a photo copy ID provided on file, and a deposit of $1,000.00 USD received.
We will place you on the reservation list, provide you with a selection number, and allow you to either be placed on the FEMALE OR MALE reservation list.
You can differ your selection, however if you plan to differ, it must be done by the the time the puppy is 8 weeks of age to allow for other reservations to be filled. At that time you will maintain your #1 position until you finalize your selection.
This will allow ALL our reservation holders to receive a #1 CHOICE PICK puppy, through early reservation confirmation, on their future litter of choice. When you are in the #1 selection place, you will choose from ANY AVAILABLE PUPPY.
The sooner you place a reservation the better.
You will not need to wait for these tests to be completed before making your selections, however we strongly recommend it.
We will also provide direct recommendations and guidance to assist you in your selection process.
Choosing a Puppy
Choosing a Presa Canario puppy, for most, needs to be done with the guidance of an experienced trainer and breeder.
Since solid temperament in this breed is so very important, Conquistador K-9 Presa Canario puppies begin early neurological stimulation as early as 3 days old, followed by aptitude testing at days 30 and 49, then imprinting through a minimum of 3 months of age. Our Puppy Development Programs have been highly researched and are in practice by master trainers and breeders around the world.
No Conquistador K-9 Presa Canario puppy will be released to a new owner prior to three months of age. This is to ensure our Puppy Development Program has been completed and you get the best "match" for your life style.
Before you begin viewing puppies, it is important to review the BREED STANDARD to be sure you are familiar with the characteristics of a correct Presa Canario. Colors such as white or blue are not breed standard, beware of "rare" colors as they are most likely indication that the puppy is not a true Presa Canario.
At Conquistador K-9 we will provide you with a complete aptitude test for each puppy in our litters, this will be complete with a training guide and overall conformation evaluation. We will work with you to determine your needs and recommend matches specifically to meet those needs.
When selecting a puppy new owners should be looking for correct bone structure, a healthy body condition, and a temperament to match your lifestyle and personal needs.

Puppy Imprinting
Like children, puppies have a small window of time during brain development when they are most impressionable. This is called the imprinting, or critical learning period. For puppies, the imprinting period is during the first 16 weeks of life. Puppies learn more during this time than they can learn in a life time.
At Conquistador K-9, we take this period very seriously and ensure our puppies are imprinted correctly to ensure a stable outcome for them in their new homes.
We build a specific training plan for the puppy based on his/her unique temperament and disposition as well as the future owners specific needs and desires. Do you want a family protection dog? A dual purpose protection/bomb detection dog? A dog you want to win trials or nosework competitions with? Do you want a dog to help your veteran with PTSD? We custom build your dogs education plan, providing exactly what is needed for your dog to be successful.
The puppy is then trained by certified Conquistador K-9 Trainers, with weekly evaluations of the puppy's health, attitude, and progress toward your predefined objectives.The end result is a 12+ week old puppy that will be the envy of all your friends. We have merged advanced dog training and project management methods into a unique solution that will meet your very specific needs.
It is integrally important that you understand Fear Imprinting Periods in your new puppy and how to continue to build off his/her training plan once they leave here destined to their new family or job.
Puppy Aptitude Testing
At Conquistador K-9 we use marry research with practical application and continue to adjust our techniques for testing our puppies, some of the tests we use were developed as long ago as the l930’s for dogs bred to become Guide Dogs. Then in the 1950’s, studies on puppies were done to determine how quickly they learned. These studies were actually done to identify children’s learning stages.
Later on in the early 60’s more tests were developed to determine if pups could be tested for dominance and submission. These tests determined that it was indeed possible to predict future behavioral traits of adult dogs by testing puppies at 49 days of age.
Puppy Aptitude Testing uses a scoring system from 1-6 and consists of ten tests. Each test is scored separately, and interpreted on its own merits. The entire purpose is to select the right puppy for the right job and home.
