About Our Program
Personal and family protection is a concept that has become very popular in this day and age of robberies, home invasions, car-jacking, kidnappings, and other violent crimes. When you ask someone what personal or family protection means, you are likely to get a whole range of answers including owning a handgun, becoming proficient in martial arts, or installing elaborate security systems.
While we do agree that a good protection plan should include multiple layers and techniques, we promote the K-9 guardian as an irreplaceable part of any personal or family protection plan. Through the years, we have worked with many dog breeds. Many are capable guardians and have high working potential, however we have found our Conquistador K-9 Presa Canario's are the best possible fit for the client that wants to take K-9 protection to the next level.

When you purchase a Conquistador K-9 you become part of our family, just like each of the prodigy we sell are part of our family. Each of them actually lives in the home of one of our trainers with them and their family. These K-9 eat with our children nearby, ride in our cars with us, and watch TV with us at night. Many organizations have huge kennels buildings with hundreds of kennel runs, and only let the dog out for training. After the training session the K-9 is returned to its 5x10 kennel run until the next training day.
Our method is different. We believe that a Conquistador K-9 Presa Canario must be raised and trained in an environment extremely similar to that in which it will live and serve its family. Without this in-home, family environment training, the preparation of a Conquistador K-9 Guardian or Imprinted Puppy simply isn't complete.
Don't other security measures work?
Statistics show that even the most complex security system can be by-passed, most handguns are not available to you in the event of an attack and may cause more of a risk to your family, and no form of martial arts is certain to protect you from an attacker with a gun.

Training Programs
We do not have a series of “Cookie-Cutter” training programs, each dog is developed using a specialized training program that best suits not only that dogs strengths, but also your very unique needs. To accomplish this, we will have to speak with you in detail about what your expectations are, the environment the dog will be working in, the people the dog will be living around, your dog handling experience level, ect. We aim to forge a lifelong relationship with our K-9’s and will be available to help you be the best owners possible through constant support and guidance.
From providing a Titled Champion, family Guard Dog you can be sure will “turn heads” as well as be capable of protecting against those that might cause your loved ones harm, to a highly trained Protection Dog that will defend your property, defend on command, and be certain to put themselves between anything that threatens your investments-personal or business- we aim to give you exactly the K-9 you want. We also pride ourselves in our Puppy Aptitude Testing and Imprinting by offering hand-selected, Imprinted puppies for a variety of different training programs.
Our "Create a Conquistador" (CAC) program is our most popular training program as it allows our new Conquistador families to take advantage of our Presa Canario specific training basics and still receive their new Conquistador K-9 at a relatively young age.
Preservation Breeding
Breeders are the custodians of a precious genetic resource that dates back tens of thousands of years to the beginning of our partnership with dogs. There is no animal on earth with greater diversity in morphology, behavior, and the roles it plays in our lives. Certainly there is none that has played a more significant role in the development of human civilization. The value of the dog to us as an "animal genetic resource" is inestimable.
There are many examples of breeds that have declined or gone extinct. Among the sheep-herding breeds, for example, there is the Cevennes Shepherd of France, which was once recognized by the FCI but has become so rare that it is no longer listed. The Presa Canario too was at risk for becoming extinct, and Conquistador K-9 follows the Institute for Canine Biology (ICB) protocol for preservation breeding. We are the only Preservation Breeder of the Presa Canario in the USA using ICB techniques.
The breeding program at Conquistador K-9 is only completed utilizing scientific selection of particular ancient gene pools.
For this reason, you will not see many repeated breedings at Conquistador, and only breedings completed for the preservation need. We produce only limited litters, each for specific breed research, each for our program development.
